About AI Studio
AI Studio puts every great AI model in one iOS app: cinematic video, 4K images, original songs, and natural voiceovers — on iPhone and iPad. Over 100,000 creators use us every month, we're self-funded, and we ship every week. Small team, no bureaucracy, and design decisions get made in days, not quarters.
The Role
You'll be the designer for our iOS app — owning how AI Studio looks, feels, and flows from the App Store screenshot to the moment a creator exports their first video. You'll design new features, sharpen existing ones, and build the design system that keeps a fast-shipping app coherent. You'll work directly with the founders and our iOS engineers, and your work will be in real users' hands within days.
- Type: Full-time
- Location: Fully remote
- Contract: Freelance / contract, long-term collaboration intended
- Schedule: Flexible, with overlapping hours for design reviews and syncs
What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end product design: Take features from rough idea to user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity Figma designs, and interactive prototypes — then iterate with engineers until what ships matches what you designed.
- Design for generative AI: Craft the moments that define an AI app — prompt input, model selection, generation progress, results galleries, editing, and export/share flows — so that waiting feels exciting and results feel magical.
- Shape the money screens: Design and iterate on onboarding, paywalls, and trial flows with the growth side of the team — the screens where design taste and conversion data meet.
- Build the design system: Maintain a clean, reusable component library in Figma that maps naturally to SwiftUI, so the app stays consistent as we ship weekly.
- Extend the brand beyond the app: Create App Store screenshots, app icon iterations, and visual assets for marketing and ads.
- Decide with data: Use analytics, session insights, and user feedback to find friction — and A/B test your way to designs that measurably perform better.
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves
- 3+ years designing consumer mobile apps, with shipped iOS work you're proud of.
- A portfolio that shows strong visual craft and clear product thinking — we'll look at the flows, not just the shots.
- Mastery of Figma: components, variables, auto layout, and prototyping.
- Deep familiarity with Apple's Human Interface Guidelines — and good judgment about when to follow them and when to break them.
- Strong interaction design fundamentals: hierarchy, typography, motion, and micro-interactions that make an app feel native and alive.
- Comfort working directly with engineers and shipping fast without a big design org around you.
- Good written and spoken English for async collaboration.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience designing subscription apps — onboarding, paywalls, and retention loops.
- Experience with AI/creative tools, or genuine daily use of them.
- Motion design skills (After Effects, Rive, or prototype-level motion in Figma).
- Enough SwiftUI awareness to know what's cheap and what's expensive to build.
- Illustration, 3D, or brand design chops.
How We Work
- Small team, big surface: You're not one designer among forty. The app's look and feel is yours to own.
- Remote-first: Work from anywhere, with shared hours for design reviews.
- Ship weekly: Your designs go live in days — and you see real usage data right after.
- High trust, low ego: Direct access to founders, fast decisions, no design-by- committee.
- Competitive compensation: We value strong design talent and structure offers accordingly.
Why Join AI Studio
- Define the face of a consumer AI product used by 100,000+ creators every month.
- Work on the most interesting design surface of the decade: making generative AI feel simple.
- Your portfolio grows with every release — real, shipped, measurable work.
- Skip the politics; keep the craft.
